Deep in the heart of Jakarta's slums lies an impenetrable safe house for the world's most dangerous killers and gangsters. Until now, the rundown apartment block has been considered untouchable to even the bravest of police. Cloaked under the cover of pre-dawn darkness and silence, an elite swat team is tasked with raiding the safe house in order to take down the notorious drug lord that runs it. But when a chance encounter with a spotter blows their cover and news of their assault reaches the drug lord, the building's lights are cut and all the exits blocked. Stranded on the 6th floor with no way out, the unit must fight their way through the city's worst to survive their mission. Director Gareth Evans (Merantau) and rising martial arts star Iko Uwais reunite in this adrenaline-fueled action film.

 

 

Kolaborasi apik antara sutradara Gareth Evans bersama Iko Uwais dan seniman silat Yayan Ruhian tak hanya sebatas di 'Merantau' dan 'The Raid'. Saat ini, Gareth sedang menyiapkan film berjudul 'Berandal' yang merupakan sekuel 'The Raid'.

"Beberapa hari ke depan, saya akan kembali menulis skenarionya," ucap Gareth saat ditemui di Ballroom Grand Hyatt, Jakarta Pusat, Rabu, (28/9/2011).

Menurut sutradara lulusan jurusan film di Universitas Cardiff dan penulisan skenario di Universitas Glamorgan itu, sebelum menggarap 'The Raid' ia sudah menyiapkan cerita untuk film 'Berandal'. Koreografi silat dan para petarung profesional juga sudah siap.

"Tapi 'Berandal' ini lebih cocok untuk jadi sekuel 'The Raid'," paparnya.

Setelah mendapatkan reaksi positif dan penghargaan The Cadillac People's Choice Award untuk kategori Midnight Madness Festival Film Toronto 2011, 'The Raid' akan mengikuti festival film dunia lainnya.

'The Raid' akan mengikuti Festival International De Sinema Fantastic De Catalunya yang diselenggarakan pada 6 hingga 16 Oktober 2011.

Selain itu, Iko Uwais cs juga akan mengunjungi Busan International Film Festival di Korea dan Rio International Film Festival 2011 di Brazil pada pertengahan Oktober mendatang.
