GRAND LAUNCHING INDONESIA: 8pm, DECEMBER 14TH

LOCATION: THE GOODS DEPT., PLAZA INDONESIA

FUTURE SHORTS ONE breaks boundaries, borders and convention. Future Shorts provides an alternative to the traditional film festival model by screening films simultaneously in several countries on one night.

FUTURE SHORTS ONE believes that all people regardless of geography, status or wealth should be able to see the most important and exciting new work from the world’s boldest filmmakers. From New York to Sydney; from Jakarta to Berlin; from Edinburgh to Copenhagen; this is the next generation of film festivals.

Events take place all over the world with a cutting edge fusion of film, music, performance and interactive design. Happening in a massive network of music venues, cinemas, theatres, clubs, warehouses, schools, hospitals, prisons, and more, Future Shorts aims to ignite a multi-cultural dialogue around film, culture and ideas.

FUTURE SHORTS INDONESIA has its Grand Launching at the newly opened and much talked about The Goods Dept. on December 14th. Film screenings will be followed by music and will feature top Indonesian DJs:- Anton Wirjono, Hogi, Dipha and a special guest act from The Herd (Australia). Each and every month Future Shorts will be screening a new programme of short films at The Goods Dept. and incorporating music and art into its events. It also promises to build upon the Southeast Asia programme by showcasing more and more Indonesian short films – giving local filmmakers the opportunity for global recognition.

This is not just an event. This is not just a film festival. This is a global cultural movement connecting creativity with people all over the world.

Audiences will be encouraged to connect with other festival-goers on the other side of the world through live link ups on Facebook and Twitter, sharing in the same experience and voting on their favorite films from their different locations.

Fabien Riggall, Founder and Director of Future Shorts, says ’Future Shorts is looking to bring together people everywhere to experience a film festival in a different way. We believe in a global communal film experience fusing a showcase of the world’s most exciting filmmakers with the best in live music and art. With Future Shorts ONE, we are launching the biggest independent film community in the world.’

December's official programme will bring audiences a 'Best Of' selection, showcasing Future Shorts’ most exciting films from this year. It includes music videos from the likes of Michel Gondry and OK GO, quirky stop motion animation 'The Lost Tribes Of New York' (recently featured on the YouTube homepage), French gem 'Voyage D'Affires' and many more.

"December's edition of ONE really does represent the boldest and most entertaining shorts that are out there today,” says Programmer Tom Vaughan, "colourful, engaging, and sometimes downright bizarre, these are filmmakers at the top of their game".

Future Shorts is bringing creativity to the world. Be part of it.
